Living in Grace

Learning more about God through strong Biblical teaching helps to guide and encourage us. Being around other believers gives us opportunities to give and receive support and encouragement. The Bible tells us in Luke 11:28 "Blessed rather are those that hear the word of God and obey it."  Everyone wants the blessing. Sadly, the stumbling block is the 'obeying'. People make it out to be more than it needs to be.  Choose baby steps in your faith if it would help you ... start with attending church regularly to hear the word and be in fellowship with other believers. Ask God to show you how you can live your best life with him as your guide.

Being loved and loving others begins with being around people.  Make a decision to commit 6-12 months to a group of Bible believing people that want to grow with God.  Know people are not perfect and hurting people hurt people.  Promise yourself and God that you will be available to see how God would use you with this small group. I promise you an incredible journey of love and peace as you serve and are served.

How does one pray without ceasing?  They start with one prayer - "God, please show me today who and when you want me to pray."  Then be sensitive to those nudges to pray for a person, area, situation.  At the very least think about the people that may be dying today - ask God to help them to know Him before their life ends. Then pray comfort for those who are going to lose someone today. Pray for those about to be born today for a life of Jesus, love, care and health. Pray for your family, community, emergency personnel to all know Jesus today, to protect and care for them. Pray for missionaries, people in lands of war, your pastor and the church.  Pray abuse and human trafficking would stop now this very minute.  The list of things and people to pray about is endless.....

Reading the Bible is new every day. No matter if you read a physical book or an online section.  God's word is true and living.  Approach your Bible time with prayer and praise to God.  Asking him to reveal himself to you today. If you are new to Bible reading start with the book of John in the New Testament. Read one Proverb and one Psalm each day. Work through the book of Genisis. Use online reference tools to help you understand Biblical teachings and guide your reading plan.  Note each book in the New Testament start with a similar phrase "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ."

Begins with loving God, not loving yourself, but loving God.  As your love for God grows you will want to honor him with your joy, peace and gratitude for where he has brought you. For how he carries and sustains you. As an extension of your love for him you will want to love others through giving to them, the church, charities, missionaries and people.  Taking from your first fruits first to give to God is a sign of faith and trust in God and He will honor your generous, willing spirit.  God even asks to challenge Him in this area to see how he will provide as you are more important than the birds of the air and they have no worries.

For over forty years I have walked with Jesus.  During that time, I have fallen often, gotten back up, dusted myself off and kept going.  My journey with Christ has not been easy or fun all the time. But I live with a peace and joy that can only come from Him. Jesus told us that we would have troubles in this world but to be of good cheer as he has overcome, and if he can overcome then so can we.  I have been fortunate to travel extensively and meet many people to engage with in life.  To encourage and comfort through transparent conversations. Always directing them to God's will for their life through church attendance, fellowship in small groups, reading the scriptures, prayer with fasting and living to give.
